For once Raymond seemed rendered speechless by Biggles' irate retort. "Well, er...um...I'm sure you're exaggerating. I've had very good advice about this!"

"Advice from whom?" Biggles' voice was dripping with sarcasm. "The bean counters or the people who know what they're talking about?"

"Let's go talk this over, over a nice cup of tea," Raymond said soothingly, aware that a mistep could cost him his entire SAP.
"For goodness sake stop that Yankee drawl, or you'll have us all doing it before you've finished."
"OK baby - sorry - I mean, righto."
"That's better."

"There's nothing to talk about," Biggles replied and said no more, preferring to leave Raymond with very little option. Biggles knew full well that without the SAP Raymond's position at Scotland Yard would be rendered useless.

Biggles had heard rumours from a confidential source that Raymond might be on the next New Years Honours list. "Not even you, sir" he replied blandly, knowing Raymond had heard them too.

The Air Commodore regarded Biggles with an enigmatic smile, then without a further word left. He strolled down the corridor to his own office thinking about where he would lunch. Passing his secretary he called, 'Would you mind digging out the details of that pilot who was looking for work the other day, the one with the friend with freckles, Worrals I think it was'.

As he sat at his desk, he remembered the bug. Bigglesworth had said he would sort it out.

Biggles found his three fellow pilots waiting in their office. Bertie was clutching his butterfly net.

"I say old top, d'you still want me to deal with the beastly old bug in Raymond's office?"

Biggles stared at him in disbelief "You really are bone from ear to ear aren't you?" he replied curtly. "Even Ginger could deal with a bug of that sort. We are looking for a highly trained Russian espionage agent who has infiltrated Scotland Yard not some small flying insect." Bertie looked hurt. He placed the net in the corner of the room just in case it came in handy after all. "What are we going to do then?" he enquired.

"How do you know it's a highly trained Russian Espionage Agent?" Algy butted in. "So far, all you've found is two listening devices. It could be anyone, even HR. I wouldn't put it past them." He looked at Biggles keenly. "It's not like you to jump to conclusions like this."
