Biggles Bumps his Head

RPG mess abouts. A place to be creative

Re: Biggles Bumps his Head

Biggles was saved from a soppy film. Sophie was up to Avengers Infinity War in her watching of the Marvel franchise. Biggles, confident that he knew most of the back stories from the films he had already watched with Sophie, was content with that choice. He didn't think it would be the sort of film that he'd watch over and over again, but he expected it would be easy viewing. He wondered what else the evening would bring.

The following evening, he collected the bottle of wine and some cheese on his walk over to Sophie's place. Buying the cheese had invoked another memory or two, so he had added them to his notebook.

On the way, he looked for things which were out of place: men in stationary cars, window shoppers looking into unlikely windows, men fastening their shoe laces in strange places.

Those actions, he remembered, and not just realised, had been second nature to him for many years.

He was curious as to how he had ended up with those necessary skill sets. Why hadn’t he just become an ordinary pilot, earning his living in the commercial sector?

Biggles could only presume that he had a knack for this work and had somehow found himself in a situation where this became apparent. He had certain ideas on when this might have happened, based on how cagy Algy was answering certain questions and hoped to be proved right when he recovered his memories.

Once more Sophie and he settled down to watch the film, the wine and cheese on a small table in front of them.

Sophie slipped to the floor and rested her back against the sofa, moving rather closer to Biggles as she did so. 'Sorry, my back's sore,' she apologized. 'I'm better down here on a harder surface until it recovers.'

Biggles refused with alacrity. 'No, no, I couldn't trouble you like that when you're in pain. A verbal guide will be absolutely fine. Do you have any medicated stuff to rub in to ease the pain?'

Sophie nibbled on her fingernail. Things weren’t going according to plan. The people she worked for didn’t like negative reports.

Biggles found a tube of DeepHeat, read the instructions and brought it out to rub into Sophie's neck. She was relieved that he was co-operating to this extent and he, feeling the knotted tension in her muscles, wondered yet again if she was genuine or following orders.

Biggles washed his hands very, very thoroughly. He didn't want that ointment transfering itself to any other part of him. Sophie had enjoyed the feel of Biggles's hands upon her, but wished he'd found anything other than the DeepHeat to use. There was a nearly full tube in the bathroom cabinet because she'd tried it on a muscle strain once, disliked how it felt and put it in there rather than the bin for a reason she couldn't currently remember.

Biggles thought there were a few too many superheros in it and that the baddy had a point, but it was watchable. Covertly, he studied Sophie and wondered what to do.
