For Lord Bertie Lissie fans

Postby Spooky » 08 Feb 2014, 12:41

My name's Lord Bertie Lissie,
You may think that I'm a nut
But when you get to know me,
I am anything but
Some say I should keep my mouth permanently shut
Absolutely, old boy, absolutely!

I always wear an eyeglass
And a permanent silly grin
But that is just my cunning way
Of sucking people in
Before you even know it , you will lose and I will win
Absolutely, old boy, absolutely!

When I first met my chum Biggles
Way back in Forty-one
Me and my dog Towser
Were just having some jolly fun
With a horn in my hand we had that pussy on the run
Absolutely, old boy, absolutely!

No-one takes me serious
Not even the bally Hun
A bad mistake on his part
If ever there was one
'cause I'm a devil with a Spitfire and a wizard with a gun
Absolutely, old boy, absolutely!

Well after we won the war
I was in a bally bind
Cashiered from the Air Force
Looking at a civvy grind
Then I was asked to join the Air Police, and would I really mind?
Absolutely, old boy, absolutely!

So Biggles and Algy and Ginger and I
Went in a new direction
Guarding our mother country's skies
And giving her our protection
No smuggler or thief or spy or crook has ever escaped detection
Absolutely, old boy, absolutely!

And what a jolly group we are
We make a fearsome four
And how we love it every time
Old Raymond walks through the door
"Von Stalhein's causing trouble again, you chaps all know the score"
Absolutely, old boy, absolutely!

Sometimes old Algy laughs at me
While I clean my old eyeglass
Or pokes a bit of fun at me
And treats me as a farce
But he's the one that gets left behind, so he can kiss my.. Oh I say!
Absolutely, old boy, absolutely!

Very funny - who wrote all these 'mania' rhymes? :merry:

This is awesome Brad! :yay: :claphappy: :monocle: And I know I have read it b4 somewhere, well done!
They've been working together for so long that each seems to know by a sort of telepathy when another is in trouble. One never seems to get them together. Get one & the others come after him. To give the devil his due they make a formidable team.

But Bertie Cashiered ? Never :!:
If there's one thing certain in this uncertain world it is that Algy won't go home without us.
