Oh, ps. Be sure to check out the credits. "Filmed on location in New York, London, and the Western Front 1917". Lol.

Wow! I never noticed that before, although I've only watched it twice...must watch it again I reckon.

It's almost a filmed RGP.

I mean, one scene had Biggles, Tower Bridge, a load of punk rockers and Motley Crue.

Well, Mr RSG and I have just finished watching it - and we thought it was much better this time around :D Quite a few laugh out loud moments and some great flying scenes :claphappy: As TS says, it is a bit like an RPG in the flesh, isn't it? We're still grinning.

I think that's my favorite scene. I love Biggles taking off his goggles and saying "Great Scott, it's beyond comprehension!" I also love as they're escaping and Biggles, calm as you please, asking the workman "mind if we borrow your ladder, sir?" Hahaha.

I’ve got a question on the dialogue for those who have a higher-quality copy than just the YouTube version.

Biggles and Jim have just stolen the helicopter.

Jim expresses his dismay. Biggles says his famous line “If you can fly a Sopwith Camel, you can fly anything.”

Police shout “Stay where you are.” Biggles immediately takes off.

Biggles says something I can’t understand that sounds like “Pull over” which makes no sense, and then he says “the plane can be tilted to create… (can’t understand him)”

Then they have a bit of sarcastic arguing, which is very funny, but would be even better if it were Algy and Biggles.

Biggles: “Won’t take me long to get this under control!”

Jim: “Well that’s good, we don’t have long!”

Then a bit of chaos with the autopilot setting. It's enough to make me dizzy watching it on the tiny screen of my iPhone.

Then Biggles says “Don’t worry, old chap. (can’t understand him here… but it sounds like he’s saying “Think of England!”…) and then he says "I think this might work" and then they fall through the hole in time to 1917 again.

This has been bugging me for over two decades now, so if you can help me out it will come as a great relief.

I think he may just be saying "over" but I'm not sure. Then he says "the plane can be tilted to create an airscrew effect." and a bit later he says "blast, the little propellor at the back ought to compensate"

I think it's 'Clever! The plane can be tilted to create an airscrew effect'.

After the boring man presses some switch and messes everything up Biggles, completely unflappable and sorting it out, does say 'Don't worry old chap, Think of England. I think this might work'.

Does it strike you as odd that he says "Think of England" to an American? I kind of want Jim to yell "Remember the Alamo" here just for comic effect.

Does anyone else own the book of the movie? There are some hilariously awkward deleted scenes.

There's a whole bit at the end about how they came up with the screenplay that is kind of interesting. I haven't had a chance to review it in detail, but I'll get a chance in a day or two.

I've just finished watching this for the second time in twenty years and, given all the comments on this forum, I have tried to view it in a different light. All I can say is - I've found it mildly more amusing than the last time. Not a keeper for me, I'm afraid.

I’ve had a chance now to read the article at the back of Larry Milne’s novelization of the film.

There are three parts:

1. The Making of the Film
2. Getting Biggles off the Ground
3. Captain W.E. Johns – Creator of Biggles

Some of the pieces of information are familiar to all of us, but other bits of it was new to me. In hindsight, it seems rather sad that they had such high hopes for a film franchise that didn’t pan out. There are also interesting bios on the main actors.

I’m happy to email more detail if anybody is interested.

Yes, I for one was disappointed they didn't make any sequels. Here is an article I found recently [not sure if I've posted it before] which mentions, even as late as 2005, that there were "two feature films in development, Biggles Flies North and Biggles in Borneo (possibly to be filmed in Australia)"...I wonder what happened to them?

My copy arrived on Thursday night. Kids promptly claimed it and watched it three times in less than 24 hours. One was jumping around pointing with excitement at the planes. The other was yelling 'look out Biggles it's the Germans. '
Both were singing the theme song on the way home from the shops last night.

Not sure what to say to that. Your kids certainly weren't enjoying the film for the same reasons as me.

I loved they were taking off in winter, flying over fields that were clearly a different season then taxying back over snow covered fields again.
