Yes, you can have more than one. You could also have their feathers, pictures, footprints, and mating rituals.

I think I have to put a disclaimer in front of mine as well!
It is my first attempt at writing a fic in 14 years perhaps, and it is deliberately somewhat dislocated in space and time as I feel I lack the specific knowledge to contextualise it properly in a specific locale or time period. Since I am following the adage to 'write about what I know', the end result is.... a scenario that chimes with my experience of daily life (far more mundane than WEJ's books), but not exactly a setting that features in the Biggles books! I guess that may give a clue...
Also, I might have had my brain slightly addled by re-reading a large dose of Soppy's Algy Chronicles recently and suffering all the anguish in the Biggles Married saga which I had quite forgotten about (it must have been forced amnesia, I must have been so traumatised the first time I read it 5 years back) 8-)

Well, looks like the disclaimer is already posted!

The monster is complete (more or less). I'd like to put it aside for a week then re-read and edit ruthlessly, but I'll have to be content with a read through tomorrow and the insertion of the extras. I have no idea where they are going to go. I'll apologise now for how long it is, but tempted as I am to post it in chapters and write something shorter for the Challenge, I don't have time.

Not many hours to go, now. :nailbiting:

Not many hours to go now. As soon as it's Sunday where you are, you can post.

All you have to do is make a new thread here, put the title 'Biggles Pulls it Off' followed by your name, and post your wonderful creation.

Looking forward to reading them!

I was hoping to post at a minute past midnight, my time, but I've been invited to a birthday party so I better leave it until noon. I need to go finish my story!

It's no longer Sunday 2nd September anywhere so the Challenge is officially over. :atomic:

Thank you very much to all who posted stories: there are a wonderful mixture, long and short, funny and more serious, set in many times and places. They have been a pleasure to read, and I will be going back over the next few days to read them all more carefully and appreciate the details at my leisure. Blood, sweat and tears have gone into the writing of all of them and I salute you :salute:

Thank you also to the people who have read the stories and commented: when you have exposed your baby to the public gaze it is nice to have it praised.

I shall now put my feet up with a nice cup of tea and catch up with all the things that I should have been doing instead of writing. Cheers :cheers2:

Thank you for organizing. This one was great! We had lots of entries and every one of them was excellent.

My thanks for organising The Challenge, Kismet.

It has been a pleasure to contribute my effort, although I nearly didn't.
You see, I had made several false starts and had quite a few competing ideas, most of which didn't really seem to match any sort of plot.
However, on Saturday morning I was sitting with my elderly father, listening to some of his wartime stories when my muse whispered an outline to me. That hint broke up the writer's block into gravel fragments and I started typing, a couple or three of hours later I had my final draft saved.
Sunday, I was at an event and away from the internet but when we got home I had a re-read and did a little bit of editing.
Then, you see, I had to have a serious talk with myself, to persuade me to submit ...

Hitting that submit button the first couple of times is hard! I'm glad that you did and it will be easier next time.

Thanks all for your encouraging comments to me as well! I, too, was extremely nervous about my rather AU offering

(...but it reflects my life... and it's all I know now...)

and my hands were shaking slightly as I pressed "Submit".

I still haven't figured out how to balance a resurgent love for Biggles with a life as a working adult with kids!

I found I could only engage sometimes when working and with youngsters. I started reading my Biggles books again when I was pregnant with my second and needed something comforting to read. I collected a good few of my missing volumes, subscribed to the Biggles magazine and then got too busy to do more than dip in and out of the internet occasionally (dial up in those days) and pick up the occasional reading copy I didn't have. Then life became less full on with the mini -Kismetites, internet much more accessible and I got involved with this forum.
