Biggles Pulls it Off - Tiffinata

Biggles Pulls it Off - Tiffinata

A bit of silliness to start off with.

“Ow Biggles, no! Ow, Ow!”

“Be quiet, you big baby. You’re the one who drew the short straw in the Charity Challenge.’

“Yes, but I rather counted on still being on sick leave after that crash in the Terai.” Algy wiped a tear away.

“Well the doctor’s declared you fit enough to do this, and even donated a substantial sum to the Police Widows’ and Orphans’ Fund. Do you want to look little Johnny Carpenter in the eye when he gets a puppet rather than his shiny red bicycle at the kids’ Christmas Party?” Biggles moved closer and raised his hand. “You know, the one his father promised him the day he was killed?”

“I’ll top it up out of my own purse,” Algy batted Biggles’s hand away.

“You jolly well know that’s not allowed, me old Bird of Paradise,” Bertie replaced his freshly polished eyeglass and peered over the top of the latest copy of Flight at Algy. “You’ve missed a bit, Biggles,” he said, pointing.

“I haven’t done that bit yet,” Biggles said crossly.

“Be a pal, Bertie and help me out? What about you, Ginger?” Algy twisted to look at them both.

“Nope,” they chorused together, grinning.

“But I’ll take you out for a slap-up meal afterwards,” Ginger offered.

“Only if it’s The Savoy and I can have that gold covered chocolate dessert thingy,” Algy shot back.

Ginger paused for a moment, thinking of the cost. Bertie leaned over. “If you do my early patrols for a month, and cough up half, you can put it on my tab.”

“Done!” Ginger said promptly, deciding even if he had to eat bread-and-drippings for a month, it would be worth it.

“Now can I get on with it?” Biggles asked.

“If you must,” Algy lay back and closed his eyes, a martyred expression on his face. Biggles grinned, leaned over and grasped the edge of a cotton strip.

Love this. Nothing like inflicting some pain!
